Reading Assignment 3: Political Globalization—hyojin lim

summary

Communication is central to politics. The nation-state is based on a centralized communication system, ranging from national newspapers and media, such as the national system of education and science, to national celebrations and popular culture. Most ethnic countries are based on increasingly standardized ethnic languages over time. Furthermore, political parties have been at the center of the massive device of political communication that they have used for social influence.

The world is not outside the social world, but within it in various ways. Therefore, it can be seen that political communication in the public domain is increasingly framed by global issues.

Broad changes in the public sphere It is possible to talk about a communicative kind of political globalization in the face of economic globalization. As argued earlier, this is different from the global geopolitics that led to the transnationalization of the country according to the rise of the global economy.

Global civil society has a commitment to address contradictory trends that have become central to the experience of globality.

Global civil society is defined as an area of global civic activity in the organizational scope, problems across the world are solved, cross-border communication is established, and actors are organized based on super-territorial solidarity.

In a sense, the globalization of civil society follows patterns such as democracy, nation-states, and citizenship

Interesting point

Tensions between state and global civil society are a constant feature of literature: they come from different traditions of political theory and are often conceptualized in very different terms

Strive to reach global interests and/or solve problems and challenge cross-border social movements and transnational advocacy networks, which are considered forces for good, and institutionalization of hegemony.

The "civil socialization" of politics means the commonality of political forms that connect regions and the world, countries and superstates, and mobilizes various actors around common political codes such as competitiveness, sustainability, personal rights, and social justice. 'Civil socialization' also resulted from the erosion of national/social distinctions inspired by 'transition of governance', changes resulting from institutionalization of social and political divisions, and the growing connectivity between global and regional political forms.
