                 What is the relation between culture and globalization?


1.Summary

In the context of globalization, world cultures are also showing a trend of deepening integration, and civilizations of various races and countries have innovated and developed through continuous exchanges and integration. In today's world, culture, economy, and politics are intertwined. The competition between countries has risen from the economic level to the cultural level, which is embodied in the competition of cultural models and cultural industries. The development of cultural industries is one of the most important ways to prosper national culture.globalization is essential for the development of culture, and in this respect, globalization and culture are related.


2. Interesting point

In recent years, Chinese and western cultures and customs are constantly colliding and merging. KFC and McDonald's have entered the China market, and Starbucks has introduced tea-based drinks to cater to the tastes of Chinese people, and even created eye-catching "moon cakes". More and more western cultures have penetrated into the China market, and what people experience is not only the brand and uniqueness, but also the implication and exotic culture that they can't experience in their own country. And this doesn't mean that culture is homogenized like this. In new york, USA, you can almost experience the cooking techniques, music types, national arts, dress styles, business methods, etc. of all countries in the world. The "diversity" reflected by this immigrant country in the United States is the product of cultural globalization.


3. Discussion

Under the general trend of cultural globalization, how should we carry forward our traditional culture, how can we better neutralize foreign culture, and on the basis of retaining our traditional culture?

   I compared Korea, China, and Japan using Hofstede's dimension. What are the cultural measures of neighboring countries with similar cultures? [Masculinity]  Japan's index was the highest with 95 points. I think this is related to the indicator of individualism. Hofstede's dimensions_ Comparing South Korea, China, Japan (MINJI JEONG)

       Korea, China, and Japan are three neighboring countries in Central Asia and have many cultural connections. Therefore, the three countries were compared through the Hofstede's index. First, it is Power Distanced. This is an indicator of the hierarchical degree of each country. The hierarchies of the three countries are in the order of China, Korea, and Japan.      In terms of individualism , Japan has the highest score of 46. It can be interpreted that this item means the degree of personalization of the country. In comparison, China and Korea recorded around 20 points. This is presumed to be largely influenced by 'collectiveism', a virtue of society that has been emphasized since ancient times.   This can also be found to be related to the number of masculinity .
