Reading Assignement 3 - Political Globalization (YASMINE HARFOUCHE)

 

1) SUMMARY 

The article from the autors Gerard Delenty and Rumford, Political Globalization shows the different aspect of political Globalization. This subject can be understood with the help of three dimensions; global geopolitics, global normative culture and polycentric networks.

The first dimension shows how democratic governement is risen in popularity and how in modern world, it became the norm

The second dimension shows how  global normative culture have been risen up. This dimensions is centered around global communication and how some subject may take more place with the help of medias. 

The third dimension shows how polycentric networks works, strongly related to the second dimension networks are non-territorial politics, where people, states and government can diffuse their ideas. 

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE NATION-STATE, NATIONALITY AND CITIZENSHIP

Globalization has lead to different transformation like the transformation of the nation-state, nationality
and citizenship. Globalization have shown that the world is becoming more united and how country,
governement and people are becoming one. This section show how countries create entity togethers and
how they mobilize their ressources together.

THE TRANSFORMATION OF THE PUBLIC SPHERE AND COMMUNICATION

Media have been one of the best ressource to people and government to diffuse their ideas. Media have been a ressources where news can be diffused and known easly and rapidly.

The centrality of modern society and the transformation of spaces and borders is also subject that relatedto political globalization.


INTERESTING POINT :

This article shows how people can influence the world without being a governement, but they still

have an influence over politics.

DISCUSSION POINT:

How some countries use medias as propaganda ?

    Local governments in China began to use new media channels for publicity, such as the tiktok platform.Usually respond to hot issues, timely report on the dynamics of emergencies and countermeasures, and try to ensure that the information can meet the needs of the public.The content is close to life and uses network expression. To change the serious style of the past, the government will use some Internet terms to enhance interactivity on new media platforms.
