Reading Assignment 3: Political Globalization. CAI YAYU

 A Summary

In the past, there was a lack of universal contact between global civilizations because of the underdevelopment of transport and communication. Globalization is a product of the modern development of civilization. The great geographical expeditions that began at the end of the fifteenth century opened up the age of great voyages, and Marco Polo's voyages led to a European yearning for the East, breaking down the isolation of the regions. In the context of globalization, opening the doors to business became the norm and travel and trade, for example, became popular at the time. In the case of political globalization, there were countries where citizens seemed to be abandoned by the state, losing most of their power and becoming victims under politics. Global cities, for example, are products of the de-nationalization of the nation-state and the rise of non-territorial politics.

Of course, with the development of globalization, some civil society organizations such as Doctors Without Borders and Greenpeace are also developing.

Political globalization is two-sided. Politics moves from the national to the global, and domestic politics is simply linked to international politics. Another consequence of the move towards globalization of politics is the globalization of politics.

   B) Interesting point

Because of the development of communication, political issues circulate more easily and quickly on an international level. Many citizens can also discuss politics. There is essentially no time lag and information is more accurate, not just in their own countries but globally.

  CDiscussion point

Does the impact of political globalization on countries outweigh the advantages or disadvantages?

Comments

  1. The process of globalization has increased production efficiency, accelerated the spread of science and technology, and promoted the growth of globalized wealth, and these obvious benefits have further facilitated globalization. However, it should not be overlooked that globalization has also brought about problems such as increasing disparity between the rich and the poor, worsening global environmental problems, transfer of environmental pollution, and clash of different cultural values, which hinder globalization and intensify conflicts between different countries and cultures. Although globalization has also brought adverse problems, the overall benefits outweigh the disadvantages.
