Reading Assignment 3: Political Globalization——HE YUNONG

What is the relation between politics and globalization?  - Gerard Delanty and Chris Rumford 1) Summary Political globalization has been widely discussed in the globalization literature, the process of political globalization opens up new possibilities of liberation, on the other hand globalization leads to the loss of autonomy and the fragmentation of the social world. The authors argue that political globalization refers to the tensions arising from the interplay of three processes: global geopolitics, global normative culture, and polycentric networks. Second, the author argues that the direction of political globalization is not a new global governance order or a world society, but a transnational political action that challenges neoliberal politics. The author supports his point through four examples of transitions in nationality and citizenship, public sphere and political communication, civil society, space and borders. Because of the conditions of globalization...

[Hofstede's dimensions] Comparing South Korea, China & Japan

Image
I compared Korea, China, and Japan using Hofstede's dimension. What are the cultural measures of neighboring countries with similar cultures? [Masculinity]  Japan's index was the highest with 95 points. I think this is related to the indicator of individualism. In the case of individual-centered Japan, not group-centered, it focuses on individual performance and shows a strong preference for achievement or success. Therefore, I think a high number came out of Masculinity. On the other hand, in Korea, efforts are made to reduce unnecessary conflicts and maintaining relationships is important. Therefore, I think it shows a relatively low score in Masculinity. [Long Term Orientation]   The reason why Korea scored 100 points in terms of long-term orientation is that Korea is such a practical and long-term-oriented society. The Hofstede Insight website says Korea encourages saving and effort in modern education as a way to prepare for the future. However, both cou...

READING 2 : What is the relation between culture and globalization ? (Hyoseung Chae)

Cultural Globalization 2020055223 Hyoseung Chae 1. Summary Culture is what creates the meaning of life. Here, meaning has the deep importance of human conditions and can be treated the same as material things related to Senggye. Culture is not only a situation in which events can be interpreted meaningfully, but also a primitive situation in which human institutions are created and occurred. The book identifies how culturally informed regional behavior can affect globalization. One speculation about the globalization process is that it will lead to a single world culture. Increasing global connectivity is that the world is economically or politically unified in the broadest sense. Some Western critics say that globalization pushes globalization into an all-out global culture. What the book emphasizes is that the trend of universalization The particular culture that we universally master is not limited to both religious worldviews and pre-modern cultures, but can be seen at the cor...

Reading 1 : What is globalization? (Hyoseung Chae)

What is globalization?  2020055223 Hyoseung Chae 1. Summary The book introduces other concepts of globalization that scholars think. Some sociologists define that there are three main dimensions of globalization: economic, political, and cultural. The cultural perspective means that the characteristics of a country, such as Starbucks or McDonald's, have spread to many countries. For this reason, economic practices have also occurred, and while adaptive generalizations have occurred to accommodate localization, the conclusion is that the expansion of self-helpism entails upgrading cultural themes. Another scholar explained that globalization is a process that is challenged by nation-states. Therefore, it is said that globalization is a process in which a nation-state is rapidly damaged by economic power. From another point of view, he also said that globalization is a link between nations, focusing on the relationship between nations. Attempts to specify globalization first co...

READING 2 : What is the relation between culture and globalization ? 김명주JIN MINGJUN

  1) Summary With the development of economic globalization and cultural exchange, the conflicts between different cultures are increasing. Under the impact of globalization, it is difficult for people to live in homogeneous culture.Cultural metabolism and hegemonism will intensify, the result will be unity in opposition, integration through conflict, and harmonious coexistence and balance of pluralism. Therefore, as an important content and expression of globalization, cultural fusion is an all-round, three-dimensional fusion, complementary coexistence and overall harmony between different cultures. 2) Interesting The League of Legends World Finals are in full swing, and the topics surrounding it are spreading around the globe. It used to be inconceivable that a game could connect many people around the world. It is an excellent expression of cultural globalization. 3) Discussion  Will the foreign culture suppress or even eliminate the native national culture because it is too s...

Reading 1: What is globalization? 김명준JIN MINGJUN

what I think is globalization   Globalization is a new phenomenon that has emerged increasingly in the world and is the basic characteristic of the present age. I think globalization refers to the cross-border movement of goods and capital, which has undergone transnationalization and partial internationalizationand globalization. The cross-border movement of goods and capital is the original form of globalization. In the process, the corresponding regional and international economic management organizations and economic entities, as well as cross-border exchanges, collisions, conflicts and integration of cultural, lifestyle, values and ideological forces.

READING 2 : What is the relation between culture and globalization ? Dengqin

1) summary Culture itself involves the interpretation and application of the meanings related to these commodities. The pure cultural commodities cannot be confused with the time of culture itself. The vision of Western liberal capitalist consumer culture swept all fields before it was severely hit by this cultural opposition. The race-centered tendency to universalize global culture can coexist with a humanist view of rational progress. True, cheerful, rational, kind, this is understandable common phenomenon. Globalisation is rapidly changing our experience of this "locality". Globalization is also changing our lives without realizing it. 2) Interesting We can already feel the phenomenon of global territorialization in very ordinary everyday practices. Even through our increasing dependence on electronic media and communication technology systems, global territorialization has generated a complex set of economic, political and technological factors. 3) Discussion point In it...

Reading 2: "What is the relation between culture and globalization? "--HE YUNONG

Reading 2: "What is the relation between culture and globalization? " --HE YUNONG 1) Summary As for the definition of "cultural globalization", there is no clear and unified definition so far. Tomlinson put forward a proposition that "globalization is complex connection", that is, globalization refers to the concentrated development and increasingly intensive interdependent network system. Tomlinson described cultural globalization as a process of non-territorial expansion, that is, the unification of local and global cultures. Globalization is not only the global flow of capital, labor and commodities, but also fundamentally transforms the relationship between the place where we live and our cultural practice, cultural experience and cultural identity, bringing a new cultural experience-non-territorial expansion. This kind of cultural experience is secular. For example, McDonald's and Coca-Cola can quickly occupy the Asian catering industry with orie...

Reading 2 assignment : What is the relation between culture and globalization?

What is the relation between culture and globalization?   I think there is a relationship between culture and globalization that develops each other more. For example, SNS such as YouTube and Instagram is very active. Through this, people around the world are exposed to K-content, which indicates that they are quickly exposed to Korean culture. Also, SNS is easy to communicate with people around the world, so there will be a culture that arises from SNS. I think this is a culture created by people from various countries. This means that even if their nationalities are different, the culture they create through SNS is created. The development of technology like this is very helpful in conveying culture faster. As shown in the example above, if culture is delivered quickly, the pace of globalization will also be faster. This is because the speed of understanding and experiencing their culture has become much faster than in the past.

1. What is globalization The development of globalization is not only a historical process, but also a comprehensive process of social change, which starts from the economic field and continues to expand to the political, cultural and other fields. Sociology defines globalization from the perspective of the increasing significance of human interaction, that is, the connection between human groups, which gradually strengthens with the development of society, and finally forms the global connection, which is called globalization. Some scholars believe that globalization is a global network of finance, information, capital and ideas, which crosses borders and turns markets into world markets. 2.The relationship with culture Globalization is the trend of The Times, and the integration of world cultures is deepening. Various civilizations are innovating and developing through constant exchanges and integration. The economic base determines the superstructure. Under the background o...

WVS: Analysis of Feeling of happiness to China, France, Japan, South Korea and United States (Hojeong Lee&Subin Jung)

Image
We compared the 'degree of happiness' in the '7th World Values Survey (2017-2022)' of China, France, Japan, Korea, and the United States. Surprisingly, it was confirmed that the index of "very happy" was quite similar to about 26% in the other four countries except for the Republic of Korea. On the other hand, the index of "very happy" in Korea was 4.1%, which was significantly lower. Also, 'France' was the country that showed the highest sense of happiness in this part. We thought of France's happiness index as the highest and the basis for many as follows. France is a Nordic country. "The happiness index in Northern Europe is quite high (based on South Korea)," said Kim Kyung-il, a professor at Ajou University in South Korea. "There are many people who appreciate small things in North European countries. "I don't have much greed, and if I want to be happy, I often find happiness from small things," he explai...

Reading 2: What is the relation between culture and globalization?

Summary Tomlinson writes about definining features of the terms culture and globalization to introduce the article. Globalization is summarized here as global connectivity, a rather abstract way to describe the word, but that stops the word from being too complex to relate to culture. It does refer to several categories, like trade and fashion globalization. To some extent, we could refer to cultural globalization as “cultural imperialism”, “Americanization”, or “Westernization”, due to the global spread of capitalism and the creation of a monoculture. The definition of culture here being “an experience that is not produced or shaped”. Despite increased global connectivity, it is not implied that everything is becoming the same and united. Every location in the world still has it’s own identity, a city like Madrid feels completely different from Tokyo or Beijing, even though they might have more similarities than at other points in history. Interesting point We are not yet a...

READING 2 : What is the relation between culture and globalization ? hyojin lim

summary   De-territorialization means that not only physical, environmental, and climatic locations, but also the importance of cultural geographical locations such as all self-definition, ethnic boundaries, and classification practices accumulated around them are weakening. Culture is no longer 'connected' to the constraints of the local environment. In fact, the idea of de-territorialization has a fairly radical theoretical meaning in the traditional way of understanding culture. Culture has long had implications for linking it to the concept of a fixed place. The concept of 'culture' implicitly links meaning. In the long run, the 'weakening' of the traditional relationship between cultural experiences and geographical areas will prove to be the most widespread impact of cultural globalization. But we need to know exactly what this entails. De-territorialization does not simply lose the experience of local culture: it does not mean that regions and the specifi...

Reading Assignment1: An Understanding Of Globalization--GAO PEIYUN(An error occurred at the commit location, now resubmit)

Globalization, a word often mentioned in our daily life, also has many aspects. Globalization is an indispensable process for the development of human society. The connections between countries in the developing world are constantly strengthened. There will be political, economic and cultural exchanges and exchanges between countries. Globalization has been around since ancient times. For example, China used to trade with the West on the Silk Road, sending silk and tea to western countries. Later, there were maritime expeditions such as Columbus' discovery of the New World and China's Zheng He's voyages to the Western seas. Globalization can expose us to new cultures, including food, movies, music and art. Globalization promotes the spread of technology and innovation. Globalization can raise living standards. Globalization has brought us many benefits. Globalization is part of the modern world and we can easily taste different cuisines from all over the world and a...

Cultural Globalization John Tomlinson T he   relationship   between   globalization   and   culture Summary: Cultural globalization, first of all to understand from globalization. The development of globalization is not only a historical process, but also a multidimensional process. It occurs simultaneously in the economic, political, technological development and cultural fields. Increasing connectivity is an obvious aspect of promoting globalization. The development of science and technology and the dissemination of culture can enable people from different countries to communicate. The spread of culture also allows people from different regions to have a deeper understanding of the life and culture of other regions. The development and popularization of electronic communication technology is a very good rhythm for the development of cultural globalization. Such an output is not akin to suddenly changing all of our minds. Rather, it gradually conveys informatio...
